SESSIONS
You have the option to do the typical 50-minute (full) counselling session, or you can opt for a longer 75-minute (extended) session.
I know sometimes there can be a lot going on, or you have a lot on your mind; the extra time makes it so you do not feel rushed, and you can process what you need at a more relaxed pace.
Whichever session length you choose, please be aware you will need to commit to the length of time booked, as that is what you will be charged for.
Sessions are typically scheduled on the same day and time, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
CANCELLATION POLICY
24 hour notification is required to cancel a session.
This can be done via text message, voice message, or email.
Please let me know as early as possible, when you know you won't be able attend a session. By providing me with at least 24hours notice, you will avoid having to pay the full session fee.
I get that life happens. Sometimes you may forget to let me know about a change, that’s ok. I will not attempt to contact you, unless I have not heard from you in two weeks – and even then, it will just be a wellness check, to see if you're doing alright. You are not obligated to continue with therapy, but it is courteous to let me know, so I can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist.
Additionally, it is not uncommon to take a break from counselling for a while; you can come back when and if you need to. We will pick right back up where we left off, and you can fill me in on what’s happened since we last spoke.

What is the process like? You can choose whether we meet in person or virtually (over video call that is secure and compliant with The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act). We follow the pace and focus that is most comfortable for you, in a collaborative manner. Our first session is when we briefly go over the paperwork, which will be sent to you via email prior to our meeting. This will give us a chance to review it together, and you can ask any questions that you may have. These forms include the Service Agreement – which outlines informed consent and confidentiality. We will begin the process of determining COUNSELLING GOALS and identify areas of focus, talk about what is most important to you, and plan the order of what we will work on. We will also talk about the history of your concerns and how it effects your daily routine. From there, we can spend the rest of the time getting to know each other, and discuss what future sessions will look like. We will integrate approaches that matches your preference.

How often do I have to come, and for how long? This is completely up to you! You decide how you want to spend your time. We can meet weekly or bi-weekly – whatever you are most comfortable with. It is normal to come fewer times when you feel like you’re coping better; and just as normal to want to come in more often to talk, when things feel more challenging. A brief once a month check-in is also welcome, if that is what you need.

How do I get started? It’s easy! Get in touch and we will schedule a free 15 minute-phone or video consultation to see whether we will be compatible to work together. During our phone call, you will be able to gauge whether I am someone you would like to share your story with, and whether I align with your vision of how your healing journey looks. I will answer your questions regarding the counselling process, and you will be able to express your personal concerns. There is no obligation to book after your consultation; this is just a casual conversation.

What is the benefit of counselling?Counselling is confidential and non-judgmental. I have no personal connection to you, so therefore, my responses are unbiased and objective. Counselling is where you find your own answers, not advice. I will help you consider new perspectives, and provide guidance so you have the right tools to lead a life you’ve dreamt about (I am like a navigation system; you are the captain of your ship). You have a safe space to freely express your emotions and explore trauma. By setting clear goals, you will gain self-awareness and learn new ways on how to relate and respond to yourself and your needs, which will increase your confidence. You will identify what has hurt you in the past, be mindful of the present, and rediscover hope for the future.
